Port Security
The safety and security of mooring vessels has always been a matter close to the heart of Flenburger Hafen GmbH. This applies both to the handling of cargo ships and, from the very beginning (2004), to arriving cruise ships. The first cruise ship to call at Flensburg was the sailing vessel MS Lili Marleen.
Prior to the entry into force of the ISPS Code (April 1, 2004), all necessary measures were taken here to have the existing port facilities certified as secure facilities by the competent state authority.
The measures introduced include, among others (depending on the type of vessel):
- Secure premises and access routes
- Fenced areas
- Access controls for secured areas
- Security screenings of vehicles and persons
